DC Food Project

DC Food Project was launched in 2018 to help school children and their families get additional food during the school day and over the weekends when school meals are not available to them. Our Share Table Program consistently rescues over 60lbs of food per school, per day, allowing children greater access to nutritious food throughout the school week. Our Weekend Bag Program has provided hundreds of additional meals to children who need that extra help over the weekend. The Coronavirus has changed our mission and a call to action out of necessity. As schools shut down, our team quickly pivoted all of our energy and resources to expand our weekend bag program — and launched an Emergency Weekend Bag Program, providing over 1 million meals to families in critical need. As schools throughout Washington, D.C. re-open, our team is pivoting once more to meet today’s demands.
